Contemporary Irish Art and Contemporary Sculpture

The Castle Upton Art Gallery in Templepatrick specialises in contemporary Irish art - both in paintings and sculpture. The paintings are united by their strong appreciation of colour; whilst the sculpture is both figurative and zoological, including large pieces designed for the garden or open spaces.

It is the gallery's intention to have a spread of both known and relatively unknown artists as well as a wide range of prices, so that there is always affordable art available for connoisseurs of all types.

Our featured artist for July is Josephine Kelly, a young Co. Donegal artist.

"I am largely influenced by the landscape I find myself in. I have been living and working in my native Buncrana for over ten years. I am inspired by the local townlands and my daily passage through them. I am interested in the borders and boundaries and the transient landmarks of the Inishowen Peninsula. I am fascinated by the local light, which is everchanging , influenced by season, weather and time of day.Hailstorms and showers can, within minutes, transform these ordinary places into another world of colour and light."
